      It is with great sorrow we announce the untimely passing of Westport Firefighter Turk Aksoy who succumbed to an occupational cancer earlier today. He was 46 years old. Firefighter Aksoy was a 13-year veteran of the Westport Fire Department, and worked many years prior as a paramedic. Firefighter Aksoy was predeceased by his wife Denise in January of 2019.       On May 18th at 12:41pm the Westport Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a truck that rolled over. The fire department responded with 2 Fire Engines, a Rescue Truck, Safety Officer, and the Shift Commander. Engine 5 was first on scene and reported a roll off dumpster truck had left its hoist in the raised position. Read More...
      On March 6th at 8:24pm the Westport Fire Department responded to an activated fire alarm at Christ and Holy Trinity Church. The department responded with 2 engines, a ladder truck and the shift commander. Companies arrived and began their investigation into the cause of the alarm when they found a heavy smoke condition in the church. Read More...
      On February 9th the Westport Fire Department was dispatched to I 95 NB between exits 18 and 19 for a report of a tractor trailer fire. The initial dispatch was for Engine 5, Engine 2 and the Shift Commander. Fairfield Fire department also responded with 3 Engines and Car 3. Engine 5 arrived and confirmed the cab of the tractor trailer fully involved with fire exposing the trailer. Read More...
