Shortly before 10:00pm on June 10th, the Westport Fire Department responded to Ford Road for a reported car off the road and into the river. The Fire Department responded with 2 engines, 1 rescue truck, and the shift commander. Engine 6 from the Coleytown Fire Station arrived and found a single vehicle accident down an embankment. The SUV was resting on its side in river. Engine 6 reported that driver was out of the vehicle and uninjured.
The vehicle was secured and stabilized by the Rescue Company. Two firefighters wearing “cold water” rescue suits entered the water and confirmed no additional occupants were in the vehicle. The last Fire Department unit cleared the scene at 11:30pm.
